Kenneth Madden

These pictures were taken in Guatemala Belize and Mexico between 1999- 2000. I was fortunate to live in a small Mayan village in the Western Highlands of Guatemala. There are some pictures of work i did with a team of forensic anthropologists. I would rather people who are interested in this work contact me then write about it here.

Irma lived beside my then girlfriend and I spent weeks trying to get a relaxed picture of her.  She would stand like a soldier to attention whenever she saw the camera. In these two shots, the first of which catches her playing with some gum, she forgot about the camera and acted naturally for the first time. Irma never saw a photo of herself.
